Tritons Get One-Run Win at Pawnee
|
The Jersey City Tritons had to overcome a big game from Pawnee shortstop Karel van Capelle to leave Whips Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 4-3. van Capelle went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. José García got the win, improving to 4-5. He held the ParksNRec to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Jared Carlisle recorded the save for Jersey City, his 4th of the season.
Jersey City used a well-timed hit by Skip Lee to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tritons ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Pawnee manager Dave Everett said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Tritons, at 58-44, sit in second place in the Menard's AAA.
