Wichita Field was the site for USPL Triple A action featuring the Kansas Rainbeaus and Monongahela Monsters.
The Monongahela Monsters relied on the hitting of right fielder José Mercado to stop the Kansas Rainbeaus, 7-3. For the game, Mercado went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Oliver Haddow got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6.2 innings.
With runs few and far between, the Monsters had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Monongahela came in the top of the third inning, when designated hitter Jacob Cox delivered a 2-run single. The single was hit off Craig Quinn and made the score 3-1, Monsters. Cox was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Mercado.
The Monsters saw their record improve to 14-16.
