Monsters Drop Rainbeaus, 7-5
|
The Monongahela Monsters defeated the Kansas Rainbeaus, 7-5, at Wichita Field. Monongahela center fielder Patrick Beck had a superb performance. He was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Jim Givens, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held Kansas to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Monongahela, at 13-16, sits in 8th place in the Premier AAA.
Monongahela used a clutch hit from Aaron Ritter to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Monsters ahead, 7-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Ritter.
