Black Mambas Paste 3-1 Loss on Thunderbirds
|
The Austin Black Mambas got a magnificent performance from pitcher Carlos Gómez, who stifled the Hamilton offense en route to a 3-1 Black Mambas win at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. The winning pitcher was Gómez, now 7-6. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 9. Sun-ho Yang, credited with the save, is now 26 for 28 in save opportunities.
Austin used the clutch hitting of Donnie Haggard to snag the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Mambas ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Hamilton skipper León Domínguez, "and it cost us."
The win for the Black Mambas lifted their record to 45-38.
