Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Thunderbirds
|
The Austin Black Mambas got a superb performance from pitcher Lane Stewart, but the Hamilton Thunderbirds still won the game, 6-3. Stewart threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Pei Fa nailed down his 4th save. The Thunderbirds, now 32-50, have won 4 in a row.
Colm Sergeant, the 28-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sergeant contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Hamilton up, 6-3.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Sergeant said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
