The Austin Black Mambas topped the Pawnee ParksNRec, 6-3, in M3L Triple A action at Whips Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Austin pitcher and Chandler, Arizona, native Lane Stewart. Stewart went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 6, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-3. Sun-ho Yang closed the door for Austin, picking up his 23rd save of the year.
Austin used the clutch hitting of Donnie Haggard to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Black Mambas the lead, 4-2. For the game, Haggard had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Lane just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Austin manager Tony Torres.
The losing streak for Pawnee has now reached 4 games.
