Blitzkrieg Get Close Win Over Golden Cranes, 3-2
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg beat the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 3-2. Port Huron pitcher and Phoenix, Arizona, native Gustavo Rivera led the way. Darwin McGinnity earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 1-1. The Blitzkrieg improve their record to 27-39 with the win over Santa Barbara.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Danny Warren came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Santa Barbara pitcher Bryan Griffin, he hit a 0-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Port Huron on top, 3-2.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Santa Barbara manager Doug Green. "The effort was great."
