The Austin Black Mambas picked up a win at Mamba Park, knocking off the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-2. Starting pitcher Dan Sanders played a key role in the triumph. The win was credited to Luke Fitzgerald in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Troy Charles Jr. took the loss. With the win over Vermont, the Black Mambas improved to 36-30.
Kuniyuki Sato hit a run-scoring double off Troy Charles Jr. in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Black Mambas in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Sato had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"This was a tough loss," said Vermont manager António García. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
