Salazar Shines in 6-4 Jersey City Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Víctor Salazar, the Jersey City Tritons knocked off the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 6-4. Salazar was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Tritons. Jersey City reliever Bill Mitchell picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Ed Pearce was tagged with the loss. Nathan May closed the door for Jersey City, picking up his 6th save of the year.
The Tritons used some clutch hitting to beat the Blitzkrieg, a good example being the at-bat of Ed Moss in the top of the eighth. With two down, Moss gave his team the lead, 6-4, when he hit a 2-run single.
In postgame remarks, Moss said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
The Tritons now own a record of 32-22.
