Buzz Stick Lake Monsters with 2-0 Loss
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz and Vermont Lake Monsters put on a pitchers' duel.
The Salt Lake City Buzz beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 2-0, at Spirits Stadium. Starting pitcher James Ellison was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Everton Stirzacre earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. Alfredo Maldonado locked down his 8th save.
Had Ron Burnett not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Burnett hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Buzz.
Burnett said his team "played with focus."
The Buzz saw their record improve to 25-27.
