Thunderbirds Net 4-1 Win Over Rocks
|
The Hamilton Thunderbirds topped the Plymouth Rocks, 4-1, in M3L Triple A action at Plymouth Quarry. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hamilton pitcher Raúl Martínez. Martínez, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 2 walks. Tony Rodríguez closed the door for Hamilton, picking up his 8th save of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, John Tolbert was at the plate when Hamilton scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Thunderbirds to go in front, 2-1.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Martínez, "and then get after it again."
The win gives the Thunderbirds a record of 16-30.
