Late Magic Gets Nashville 6-5 Win
|
The Nashville Hot Chickens faced a tough opponent in Port Royal pitcher Miguel Hernández, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Port Royal by a final score of 6-5. Hernández went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Nashville reliever Valentín Jiménez was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Rob Bates took the loss. The 5th-place Hot Chickens have a record of 20-16.
Nashville used the timely hitting of Waylon Meade to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hot Chickens on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Meade, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
