Nobles Clip Rainbeaus, 5-4
|
Fans watched the Bakersfield Nobles and the Kansas Rainbeaus fight to the finish.
Kansas left fielder Ken Hines had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Bakersfield at Wichita Field. Hines hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner in relief was David Sullivan. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.
Bakersfield used the clutch hitting of Jeremy Watson to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nobles ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Watson.
The win brings the Nobles to 6-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
