Thunderbirds Take Down Hot Chickens, 3-2
|
The Hamilton Thunderbirds faced a tough opponent in Nashville pitcher Robert Carlson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hot Chickens Park by a final score of 3-2. Carlson went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Tony Rodríguez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-3. Todd Gould was tagged with the loss. At 12-21, the Thunderbirds claim 11th place in the Menard's AAA.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Flynn Ford's at-bat in the top of the 11th was vitally important. With two out, the Hamilton catcher reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"We had a chance to win," said Nashville manager Ward Wilberfoss, "but we didn't get it done."
