Humpbacks Stay Hot With 4-1 Win
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks beat the Bakersfield Nobles, 4-1. Alaskan pitcher and Baltimore, Maryland, native Dave Bass led the way. Bass went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. With the win, Alaskan elevates its record to 8-1.
The Nobles had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Humpbacks going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old catcher Aleixos Arde came to the plate. Arde hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-0 forkball from Bakersfield hurler Victor Jones. It was Arde's 1st triple of the year.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Arde.
