Hot Chickens Trip Lake Monsters, 7-6, in Extra Innings
|
The Nashville Hot Chickens wiggled past the Vermont Lake Monsters, 7-6, at Monster Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Nashville pitcher Gerry Wells. The winner was Nashville reliever Valentín Jiménez, now 1-0. The loser was Tsurayaki Tanaka. Earning his 2nd save for Nashville was Todd Gould.
Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Júlio Chacón's at-bat with two out in the top of the 14th was crucial. The Nashville catcher drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Nashville manager Ward Wilberfoss.
The loss puts Vermont at 10-7.
