The Syracuse Starks beat the Hialeah Dodos, 4-3, at Stark Stadium. Byron Ballard, in particular, was impressive. He was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Miguel Bruno, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Syracuse goes to 2-2.
Ballard had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 curveball from Eric Hurt, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Starks a 3-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Ballard.
"I really like what we did out there today," Ballard said after the game.
