Black Mambas Hang 4-1 Loss on Golden Cranes
|
The Austin Black Mambas beat the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 4-1, at Crane Field. Starting pitcher Dan Sanders was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 6.2 innings, Sanders surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Sun-ho Yang was credited with the save for Austin, his 4th of the season.
Austin used the bat of Donnie Haggard to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Black Mambas ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Haggard said (again).
The win lifts Austin to a record of 7-6.
