Thunderbirds Stick Blitzkrieg with 4-2 Loss
|
Mike Thornton pitched well, but the Port Huron Blitzkrieg still lost the game, falling 4-2 to the Hamilton Thunderbirds at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Alfonso Rojas came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Port Huron drops to 2-4.
Had Greg Erwin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Erwin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Thunderbirds.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Erwin told the Hamilton Observer. "Whatever it takes."
