Bowties Suffer 3-1 Setback
|
The St. Louis Coeur got a magnificent effort from pitcher Thomas Zachary, who kept Buckhead hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Coeur win at 5 Paces Park. Jon Curtis, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Claude Richardson picked up the save for St. Louis, his 5th of the year.
St. Louis right fielder Ricardo Alejo produced at a critical juncture. It happened in the top of the ninth with Benton Johnston on the mound and St. Louis leading 2-1. Alejo drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"Every loss hurts," said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister. "But this was a tough one."
The Bowties, now 5-15, continue their poor start.
