A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC and Detroit Elite.

The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC overcame a fine performance by Detroit center fielder Victor Fleming to defeat the Elite, 6-4, at Detroit Stadium. Fleming went 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks. Edward Brown got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 3. The save was credited to Javier Gallardo, his 1st.

Thunder Bay used the bat of Celestino Canova to get the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Northern Lions BC ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Canova. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."

With the win, Thunder Bay elevates its record to 9-8.
