Scarlett, Drummers Shut Out Redlegs, 4-0
Wednesday, June 5th , 2052
The Sacramento Redlegs were almost helpless today in their 4-0 loss to the Tortolita Drummers and hurler Cliff Scarlett. Scarlett kept the Redlegs confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Scarlett," Sacramento manager John Brown said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 24-year-old right-hander had no walks and 6 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Scarlett said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In season stats Scarlett shows a 1-4 record in 7 games, 40.2 innings, 28 strikeouts and a 5.53 ERA.
