Lynskey Magnificent in 7-0 Port Royal Triumph
Thursday, July 11th , 2052
The Port Royal Disaster shut out the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-0 today behind the strong pitching of Keith Lynskey. Lynskey surrendered only 5 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 6.
Following the last out, Lynskey appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Vermont manager Dylan Smith, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Lynskey's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Lake Monsters skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Disaster press conference, Lynskey confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Lynskey said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Port Royal manager Mike Nyberg added.
This season-to-date, Lynskey has fashioned a 2-5 mark and 3.12 ERA in 89.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .204 against him and he has logged 82 strikeouts.
