Shredders Octávio Ortíz Hurt
Tuesday, October 1st , 2052
Octávio Ortíz at first refused to leave today's Montana-Hollywood game after he suffered elbow tendinitis while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Hollywood reliever said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Ortíz out of action for 7 weeks.
Ortíz has compiled an ERA of 3.74 so far this season, winning 2 games with 5 losses and 6 saves. In 32 relief appearances he has hurled 43.1 innings, yielded 43 hits and struck out 50. Opposing hitters have batted .254 against Ortíz.
