Chávez Suspended, Out 4 Games
Wednesday, September 18th , 2052
There was a hostile encounter between César Chávez and the men in blue in yesterday's Las Vegas-Echo Park game. The Flamingos second baseman was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Chávez stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Chávez for 4 games.
This season Chávez is hitting .214 with no home runs.
