Gvozdev Gets Award for Relief Work

Pavlov Gvozdev was a calming influence out of the Huntington Hermit Crabs bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 23-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the USSL Single A Reliever of the Year Award for 2052.

The Oboyan, Russia native won the award with 3 saves in 32 relief appearances, 106 strikeouts in 72.2 innings and a record of 3-0 to go with his 1.11 ERA.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ed Taylor of the Yucca Valley Yellows finished second in voting, while Carlos Maldonado of the Columbia River Rats finished third.
