In a low-scoring affair between the Montana Pandas and the Colorado Billy Goats, pitcher Jay Newton was the difference between victory and defeat. The Montana right-hander earned accolades in the 2-0 Pandas win. Earning his 31st save for Montana was Jeffery Meyers. Montana now has a record of 55-26 with the win.

With two out in the top of the fourth, Ron Pollard barreled up a slider from Gregory Collins. The result was a solo home run, putting the Pandas in front, 2-0.
