The Mississippi Mockingbirds started the ToC First Round in style today, downing the visiting Panama City Piranhas at Magnolia Park by a score of 7-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Mockingbirds third baseman David Alcabú was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.

John Richardson dealt the Piranhas a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Mississippi leading 1-0, Richardson, who finished 3rd in the PL in triples with 7 in 2048, hit a 2-1 curveball for a 2-run double.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Richardson.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Magnolia Park in Jackson.
