Segar, Highlanders Wallop Pilgrims in Game 1 of R1
The Asheville Highlanders got past the Providence Pilgrims by the score of 11-1 today in the crucial first game of the SL AA Championship at Asheville Park. Asheville first baseman Evan Segar hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice, to lead the charge. With a 1-0 lead, the Highlanders will have two chances to close out the Pilgrims.

The Highlanders took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Facing Providence hurler José Rivera with two outs, Segar hit a grand slam home run.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Segar said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Asheville Park in Asheville.
