Syracuse Sweeps SL AAA Championship
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys rolled over the Milton Dogfish Head 3-2 at The Zoo in Syracuse to easily win the 2052 SL AAA Championship crown.
Syracuse won in a walk and swept the series from the Dogfish Head 2-0. It was their 3rd championship title.
Winning manager Scott Garrison praised his own club as well as the opposition, calling the Dogfish Head "a fine team."
"It wasn't as easy as it looked. We had to play good baseball to beat them," he said. "We always seemed to come up with the key hit at the right time and to make the plays on defense when we had to. That's how you win the SL AAA Championship."
The Squirrel Monkeys took first place in the Silver AAA and rounded out the year with a 70-32 record.
