Trash Pandas Edge Puffer Fish 2-1 to Open R1

The rookie looked like he belonged out there.
The Watford City Trash Pandas sent 20-year-old right-hander Jerry Bishop to the mound today for a high-pressure playoff start and he repaid their confidence, quieting the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish on a day where the Trash Pandas struggled to produce runs of their own. In the end, Watford City cobbled together enough to take the 2-1 decision. The win gave Watford City a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 SL R Championship.
The Trash Pandas liked what they saw from Bishop. The 20-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Puffer Fish to 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings, and striking out 4.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Bishop said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Plattsburgh Park in Plattsburgh.
