Home Field Advantage: Hargrove, Syracuse Open SL AAA Championship with Win
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys powered past the visiting Milton Dogfish Head, 7-4, in the opener of the SL AAA Championship at The Zoo in Syracuse today. Syracuse second baseman Bob Hargrove hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, to lead the charge. The Squirrel Monkeys now lead the series 1-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Syracuse first baseman Iván Marrero had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Marrero stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 5-3, Syracuse. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Squirrel Monkeys manager Scott Garrison, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Zoo in Syracuse in Syracuse.
