Billy Goats Topple Flamingos, 5-3
|
The Colorado Billy Goats overcame a fine performance by Las Vegas shortstop Manny Inserni to defeat the Flamingos, 5-3, at The Strip. Inserni was 2-2 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Tommaso Cugnoni picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-4. He struck out 1 in 6.2 innings. The save went to Chris Edwards, number 16 for him.
Colorado used the bat of Mhelter Tejano to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Billy Goats ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
In postgame comments to the Colorado Chronicle, Tejano said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Colorado, at 35-40, holds down 5th place in the Silver League.
