Big Day for Cortéz as Pandas Down Lakers, 5-3
|
The MSL Montana Pandas topped the MSL Echo Park Lakers, 5-3, with third baseman Francisco Cortéz playing a big role. Cortéz was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Pandas in the win. The Pandas' win now puts them at 21-17.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Pandas sent 16-year-old designated hitter Iestyn Browning to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run, to put MSL Montana on top, 5-3.
"Winning never gets dull," said Cortéz.
