Stingers Down Battery, 7-3
|
Starting pitcher John Farmer pitched well enough to help the MSL Toledo Stingers beat the MSL Charleston Battery, 7-3. Eric van Seggelen earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 4.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The Stingers, at 5-9, sit in last place in the 3L MSL.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Ricardo González came to bat in the top of the 18th. Facing MSL Charleston pitcher Sergio Ledezma, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting MSL Toledo on top, 3-2.
"Our team showed some gumption," said González. "I like it."
