MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids pitcher Jeremiah Harris was in fine form, leading his team past the MSL Toledo Stingers, 2-1. Harris picked up the win for MSL Northern Virginia, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Phil Chamings sewed up the save, his 1st.
MSL Northern Virginia first baseman Rick Torraville contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 2-1.
"Nervous? No," said Torraville. "It was my time to shine."
The loss has the Stingers at 3-3.
