Starting pitcher Fernando López was a major factor in the 5-1 MSL Boston Patriots triumph over the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers. López, now 7-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Félix Pérez recorded the save for MSL Boston, his 2nd of the season.
With two out in the top of the sixth, Jing-quo Au-Yong barreled up a changeup from Sixto Muñóz. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Patriots in front, 4-0.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," López told the MSL Boston Today.
