Voodoo Deal Kingfishers 7-2 Loss
|
The MSL New Orleans Voodoo defeated the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 7-2, in USPL Mexican Summer League action at MSL Pittsburgh Ballpark. MSL New Orleans pitcher Brant Owens had a standout performance. MSL New Orleans reliever Mustafa bin Azhar was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Gilberto Valdéz took the loss. The first-place Voodoo have a one-game lead in their division.
MSL New Orleans used the clutch hitting of Arturo Cortéz to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 7-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Cortéz said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
