Oaks Beat Dirty Reds, 5-3
|
The MSL Oakland Oaks topped the MSL San Mateo Dirty Reds, 5-3, in USPL Mexican Summer League action at MSL Oakland Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to MSL Oakland pitcher and Oceanside, California, native Larry Oliver. Oliver went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 1-0. The Oaks, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
The Oaks got an important contribution from first baseman Reggie Ewbank, who in the bottom of the third hit a full count fastball into center for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Oaks ahead, 4-1.
Ewbank called the win "a team effort."
