Harbor Whales Win Thriller, 4-2
|
Ogallala got a terrific performance from pitcher Vojislav Gracanin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Greenport Harbor Whales. Greenport won the Ballpark of Robbins contest, 4-2. Gracanin threw 8.1 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Gerben Groothuijzen got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Greenport is 9th in the Menard's Low A with a record of 41-49.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Greenport trailing 2-1, Caspar Lau jumped on a 1-1 fastball from Scott Jones for a 3-run home run, sending the Harbor Whales to a walk-off win.
"Enjoyed this one," Lau told the Greenport Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
