Canucks Turn Back Octopi, 3-2
|
Moose Jaw starter Steve McMillian pitched effectively against the Ogallala Octopi at Foresters Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. In 5.2 innings, McMillian surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Joshua Gatchalian was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
The Canucks got an important contribution from second baseman Keith Anthony, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 1-0 fastball into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 16th double of the season and put the Canucks ahead, 3-1.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Anthony. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
The win for the Canucks lifted their record to 43-41.
