Rams Fall to Snowpeople, 5-2
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople topped the Ladue Rams, 5-2, in M3L Low A action at The Igloo. The standout performance belonged to Ellesmere Island pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Francisco Cortés. Cortés, now 5-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Tristan Liefting got credit for the save for Ellesmere Island. It was his 15th of the year.
Francisco Hernández had an important at-bat with two out in the bottom of the third, when he hit a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season put Ellesmere Island on top, 5-2.
"Francisco was able to execute his pitches," said Ellesmere Island manager Dale Sunter. "Simple as that."
The Snowpeople, at 30-27, sit in 4th place in the Menard's Low A.
