Rhinos Knock Off Warheads, 9-1
|
The Redwood Rhinos thumped the Amarillo Warheads, 9-1, at Ballpark of Henderson. Sandross Bañaga was a big reason his team got the win. Bañaga was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. John Borrett collected save number 1. The loss makes Amarillo 36-45.
Redwood used the bat of Ricardo Cantú to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Rhinos ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Rhinos manager Dave Parrish had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
