Rice Goes Deep Twice in 3-1 Trash Pandas Win
|
The timely hitting of John Rice helped the Watford City Trash Pandas down the Redwood Rhinos, 3-1. Rice was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Trash Pandas. Ijsbert Cornelis got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. The first-place Trash Pandas have a one-game lead in their division.
Rice contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Watford City in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Rice took a fastball from Yoshitaka Shinohara and stroked the home run to left. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Trash Pandas to leap in front, 2-1.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Rice told the Watford City Times.
