Uruguayans Lose, 5-3; No End to Nosedive
|
Amarillo second baseman Jack Andrews played a vital role in his team's 5-3 triumph over Germantown. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for Amarillo. Jack Hammer earned the win for Amarillo. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 6-0. Germantown is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 9 in a row.
Amarillo relied on the hitting of Kjeld Stam to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the first inning to put the Warheads on top, 2-0. For the game, Stam had 1 triple and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Andrews said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
