Parker Twirls a Gem for Surprise
|
The Surprise Shockers topped the Maine Sea Dogs, 5-3, in USSL Low A action at Shockers Field. The standout performance belonged to Surprise pitcher and Las Lomas, California, native Artie Parker. The save was credited to Jens van de Vlugt, his 1st. The 9th-place Shockers improved to 18-26.
The Shockers liked what they saw from Parker. The 20-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Sea Dogs to 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings, and striking out 8.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Parker told the Surprise Herald.
