The Bethlehem Angel Kitties had to overcome a fine effort from Bompton pitcher Sandro Gonzáles to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Field of the Browns. Gonzáles went 6.2 innings and allowed 5 runs. José Durán, the winner, improved to 6-2. He held Bompton to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. With the win, the Angel Kitties have a record of 23-19.
Bethlehem used the clutch hitting of Jason Thrower to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Angel Kitties the lead, 4-3. For the game, Thrower had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Thrower said.
