Blau Leads Baby Lakers to 9-6 Win Over Sea Dogs
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers topped the Maine Sea Dogs, 9-6, with youngster Weiner Blau playing a key role. Blau went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Baby Lakers in the win. Fernando Rivera picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-1. He struck out 8 in 6 innings. With this game in the books, Bompton is 21-15, Maine 20-16.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Baby Lakers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when shortstop Amennay Usiku hit a 2-run single. The single came off Werner Payne and made the score 3-1, Baby Lakers. Usiku went 1-4. He drove in 3 runs.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Usiku.
