Warheads Snag 5-2 Win
|
The 5-2 Amarillo win over Plattsburgh was due largely to Greg Kirkwood. The Warheads center fielder threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Amarillo reliever Cristiano Carrión got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Curt Kerr was tagged with the loss. Wijnand Boone locked down his 5th save.
Jay Mirka helped out the Amarillo cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Amarillo skipper Armentario Holguin.
With the loss, Plattsburgh falls to 7-5.
