The Beaumont Crossbeaus took Memphis pitcher Akil bin Abbud's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Stage in Memphis. The final score had Beaumont getting past the Music, 4-3. bin Abbud went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. Tan-ming Lou earned the save for Beaumont, his 21st. Beaumont has a record of 37-55, placing them 8th in the Premier Low A.
Beaumont used the timely hitting of Lyndon Hann to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crossbeaus on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Memphis manager Jorge Baca said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
